Styling Tips for the New Year

Happy New Year everyone!! It’s 2013, a whole new year of new beginnings and fresh starts. And with a new year comes some new trends and some old trends revisited. Here are some of our favorite trends for January and the new year:

White/Nuetral Coats: In the gray days of winter and the cold weather all around, a fresh pop of a bright white or neutral coat can bring life to your outfit. I feel like winter is the time everyone wears dark colors, so a fresh pop will help you stand out from the drab crowd!

Chunky Knits: I think I have mentioned how much I adore comfy sweaters in the winter time. And there seems to be a trend of chunky knit sweaters that I have seen a lot of. And pairing the heavy wool material with slimmer fitting pieces like your favorite skinny jeans is the perfect combination!

Tweed: The classic tweed pattern adds a feminine edge to any outfit. Pair a tweed jacket with comfy boyfriend jeans or get your tweed fix in the form of a cozy skirt.

Metallic: We are fresh off of the sparkley holiday of New Year’s Eve, so keep the glitz and glamour coming! I love unexpected sparkles on boots or metallic thread weaved through a sweater.

Oxblood: Never fear, the rich color of oxblood is coming with us into the new year. And it goes perfectly with the it color of 2013: Emerald green.

Collar Necklace: Imitating a classic peter pan neckline is easy with the fun accessory trend of collar necklaces. The necklaces make a statement and still look like a part of your top!

Be Bright: I love bright colors all year round. Just because it is chilly outside, doesn’t mean my bright aqua pants aren’t going to come out and play under my peacoat!

What trend are you most excited to bring into 2013?
